On a lighter note, I've watched the Shanghai Blues starring William So, Emma Yong and Mindee Ong in the Esplanade on the 2nd day of CNY. It was my last get together with my best pal April before I leave behind the Lehs and Lahs to a country who likes to say Cheers. The musical was quite interesting with a theme of searching for your soul mate you met under the bridge during WWII, after the war. There wasn't surprises to the ending as compared to Beauty World. One of the props I find innovative was the "bridge", the planks of wood can be used as a staircase as well as elevated to form a illusion of a bridge. Other than that, more props can be included in as what April commented. The main focus was watching Emma sing, I love her singing alot! She has the charismatic voice that's crystal clear and soothing, full of emotion and vigour. Personally I feel her singing prowess was better than Mindee Ong. I think William So was quite good due to his past experience in singing.
When there's intermission, April spotted a person wearing a cheongsum and it turned out to be Kit Chan mingling with a group of people. Later, a fan wanted to take a photo with her but was rejected. As we are moving back into the theatre, we bumped into one of our GESS classmate, Wai Yin. I couldn't recognise her...it took me a while. It's 6 years already since I last met her. It's nice to know that Singapore is small that we can bump into familiar people in places like the Esplande.
Right after the musical, we went to a food centre just right next to the Esplanade. It was the first time I was there...what a mountain turtle I was...=.= While we were tucking into carrot cake and hokkien mee, April spotted Emma sitting with her family having supper! The very next minute, she was spotted exchanging words with Beatrice Chia and Mark Richmond, later she went to another table of artists and crew. While she was queueing at the drink stall, I quickly requested to take a photo with her! Luckily, she graciously said sure! I was so lucky!! :D
I forgot to mention April got me the rabbit from Mother Garden, I named her Miffy thinking she was Miffy...ok long story...anyway she's a loveable bunny with a red pokka dot dress with matching bow on her ears and shoes to complete her look!
