Today, I went exploring further down Paramatta Road to watch a dutch movie, Black Book, along Norton Street,Leichhardt. The whole street was full of Italian restaurants which my friends have mentioned that this place is like a mini Italy. This WWII film was very engaging and full of suspense much to my delight. Along the way, I have tried guessing who's the ultimate traitor but I was wrong. This movie really shows the realities of the atrocities committed by mankind and war brings out different faces of a person and their allegiances. Highly recommended to watch!!
The story synopsis I got from a brochure,
The final years of the Second World War fin the beautiful Rachel Stein taking refuge in the rural Holland. Once a popular and wealthy singer, Rachel has been waiting out the war like many Jews in Europe, separated from her family and only a moment away from being caught by the Gestapo.
After a near escape, a compassionate lawyer arranges for Rachel to join her family and cross enemy lines into Allied territory, marking her name and redezvous point in a little black leather notebook. But during the dangerous crossing, tha boat is ambushed by German Gestapo and Rachel's family is brutally murdered.
Embittered by the memory of the murder of her family, Rachel decides to become a Dutch resistance fighter to seek revenge against the Nazis and uncover the traitor who reavealed the secrets of the Black Book.
