Today, was my first day in school. I had to buy Japanese textbook and workbooks for my year long of Japanese language lessons, which I had wanted to do so long ago. I’m quite excited to learn more about Japanese because next time I can understand better the jap dramas, my ps2 games and even visiting Japan! Hee…actually I had to make a choice between French, Korean or Japanese and finally decided with Japanese because JH is learning as well. So we can help each other out when faced with difficulties. But the books don’t come cheap, costing about A$80 for all. I’m using the integrated course in elementary Japanese textbook and workbook, I’m sure those learning jap should be using this book as well.

Our sensei/e is Seiko Yasumoto a lady native teacher whose command of English is quite good. We can understand her without much difficulty and she can crack a joke or two as well which cracks up the whole class making the lessons more enjoyable. The lecture theatre is unlike your typical air-conditioned place with individual chairs with rotate able portable tables, there are many rows of benches that look like some park benches accompanied with tiny long wooden tables. There are many rows of tables that stretch up to two levels, where one can even walk down from level 2 staircase. It’s a staircase with handles and not just steps. The teacher uses 2 chalkboards on each side of the LT that can be pull up and down for teaching. The only modern feature in the LT is probably only the overhead projectors.

After the jap lesson, I had to rush over to the Chemistry building which is like a distance away to attend my chem. lecture. Chemistry lectures are usually quite boring but I enroll these lessons so that if I want a major in chemistry instead of pharmacology, I can still choose. This second year will be a testing ground of what I will really like to take up in my final year.

I hope I can cope with the studies and workload because I have a feeling it will be overwhelming! Oh no………..!
