This week’s chem. laboratory is another horrible day. Another emotional upheaval. Horror Wednesday!! I seemed to be so stressed every time together with JH on this. Come to think about it, if JH is not together, I might even break down or drop dead. This week’s practical was about infrared spectroscopy of greenhouse gases. The instructions for the method was not very clear, and we were trying to figure out how to operate the system and the demonstrator who might be honours or masters students didn’t really explain much and we had to call for them almost every step even using the IR spectroscopy as well. It was a lousy Asian guy that we both dislike. And sometimes they have this “how-come-you-don’t-know” kind of look, as if they are reluctant to teach. Or maybe it’s the way they do things here, do your experiment on your own with minimal guidance.

And here comes the most annoying, frustrating and infuriating part. I had ask a question to solve a question and the Caucasian demonstrator was at first quite patient hinting about solving the question but slowly getting frustrated that I didn’t get what he was thinking. And along the whole process, the irritating Asian guy was snickering just beside me! I was so furious and mad at their attitude. How can an Asian guy not help his own Asians? JH and myself loathed Asians here who think and behave they are white when they are born or lived here for many years. They will never ever become white no matter what. While we were completing our lab – report, our Caucasian demonstrator and lecturer were discussing that this year’s chemistry students are much smarter than previous years and they finished up they’re practical very early around 4pm and had left leaving some behind. That’s a very clear hinting that we are dumb and still finishing up our practical report!! While they were commenting, there were some Asian guys still finishing up behind us. That such a racist comment!! Saying we Asians are dumb!!!!!!!! We are going to proof them wrong with our Singaporeans kiasuism!! Yes!! As I quote JH’s new slogon! Score Distinctions and Beat the Caucasions!!
At least we have found a solution by planning to attend some year 1 Chemistry lectures to help us brush up and refresh our memory. I’m sure we can both pass this obstacle and emerge victorious with our last laughs.
