Not to disppoint, another foodie account!

2 days ago, I made a trip to Suntec for the last time before the Gacha Fair ends. After that, Li Leng and myself were thinking of a place to eat until we walk pass by The RiceTable Restaurant just a stone's throw away located at level 3. Ok lah...i know my description is so cliched. Ok back to topic, the layout of the restaurant together with the soothing ambience make the eatery look outrangeously expensive but to our surprise it’s an affordable $12.90 ++ for a lunch set and $18.90 ++ for a dinner set. We were led to a table for two. The table was lined with batik table cloth and in the centre laid a flat rectangular heater. Barely warming our rattan seat, our drinks and food arrived. Twelve small dishes were laid in front of us. Mainly chicken dishes like soto ayam (chicken soup), ayam kalio (chicken curry), sate ayam (chicken satay) and ayam panggang (grilled chicken). The others like rudjak manis (fruit salad), otak (grilled fishcake), daging rending (spicy beef stew), tahu telor (tofu omelette), kangkong belachan (waterconvolvulus), sambal udang (spicy prawns), ikan goring (fried fish) and sayur loden (vegetable stew).

First, I attacked the familiar stuff like kangkong, those curry vegetables and beef rending since LL doesn’t take beef. Kangkong usual ah…just put the belachan to make wonders to the kangkong. Vegetable stew same like u get from those chap chai stall anywhere in Singapore. The beef rending for I can say it’s still not the best, the beef was quite tough, maybe it’s the tendons. Then I sampled a spoonful of chicken stew, not bad, taste like mee soto soup. Chicken curry was just 2 middle portion of the wings, Nothing special. Chicken satay was quite tender as compared to beef….anyway can’t compare…hee…both different things like apples and oranges..Ok enough crap. Wah…grilled chicken was good, taste like those Chinese like to cook the gong bao ji ding that kind, chicken in dark sweet sauce with dried chili kind of taste. Fruit salad was refreshing, after those heavy meats. You can get better otak elsewhere. The tofu omelette was crispy at some parts of the dish plus topped with rojak sauce laced with peanuts. 1 complain about the sauce, it’s too salty!! But overall, delicious dish. There were only 2 spicy prawns on that dish. Nothing spectacular. The fried fish in sweet and sour sauce was another must try, the fish was freshly deep fried and the combination of the sauce was heavenly.

Overall, I enjoyed my lunch at The RiceTable Restaurant. I don’t mind going again. Ok stop reading and go try it for urself!
