Another back track account for 16th April, this day met my long time pal April for dinner and catch a play in Victoria Theatre titled Boeing Boeing. It was certainly a right choice for watching this, I didn’t regret it and love this show to bits.

The synopsis : Bernard thinks he can cope with his three air stewardess girlfriends. It is a question of juggling their timetables and the brilliant assistance of his reliable down-to-earth maid Rosa, who never forgets to change the photographs in the bedroom. Everything proceeds like clockwork, until the arrival of new “Super Boeing” and he is landed with triple problem on his hands!

Starring Lim Yu Beng as Bernard, he had to handle three air stewardesses with the help of his childhood friend from Malaysia, Robert, when they arrived all at the same time. First up to appear as a Singapore Girl was Chermaine Ang as Janette with the strong Singapore twang with all the lahs and the lohs. Her performance was applaudable but it wasn’t as strong as Pamela Oei’s character as Jelly, a Cathy Pacific air stewardess and Emma Yong, as Junko a Miss JAL. They make their acting look so at ease and enjoying every bit they were meant to portray. As there’s a saying goes, 10 minutes on stage is 10 years in making off stage. All the hard work put in making this production successful was thanks to their dedication. Jelly arrived soon after enlightening us with a dose of Cantonese accented English dialogue as well as spoofing a few common Cantonese words like “Yao Mao Gao Cho (How can it be like this?), Qi Xin (Crazy)”. Besides that, she added a chilli padi character that’s too hot to handle but is true with her feelings. Junko on the other hand is portrayed as a conservative and shy Japanese lady with strong moral values. She is true to her one and only boyfriend but wouldn’t fail to show her affections though. Throughout the whole dramatic meeting of the two ladies Junko and Jelly with Robert and Bernard, Junko realized she liked Robert and Bernard actually truly loved Jelly. And the SIA girl dump Bernard for a better guy..haha…it all ended well. Of course not forgetting Rosa, a lovable Pilipino maid with her no-way-I-am-standing-this-high-risk-job-tackling-these-girls-attitude who helped out Bernard with housekeeping, cooking the ladies favourite food and not forgetting about changing photographs!

I truly loved these local plays and musicals as they are so hilarious and can't stop myself from indulging in more local productions. But a pity I can't relive my experiences by watching repeatedly in vcd or dvd as do dramas or movies.

Acting sounds fun and exciting, portraying someone who is existant or not existant. Someone who is totally different and unlike yourself. Its just like standing in someone's shoes or someone's soul doing things thats so completely not you. Its just so fun thinking about this. Just a thought.
