Personally i like themes that are associated with chinese history so i was in Esplanade to watch The Last Emperor, with Pei e and Audrey, which is a ballet performance performed by Hong Kong Ballet. The opening music piece is quite pleasing to the ear and has a nice melody. The prologue portrays the progression of Pu Yi when he was a child till an young man through lighting. The dances were graceful and full of vibrance and exuberance. This can only be done with a good choreographer who put this performace to life and to portray a story of the last emperor through ballet. I especially love the scene where Pu Yi dances with his wife and concubine. The dance was quite elegant when the three of them had great rapport together. It was just flawless! There was another short scene of Pu Yi actually supposed to be tortured by Japanese soldiers but in fact cleverly portray this through graceful ballet! Overall this performance is quite good even though was dozing at certain point due to the hypnotic music....zzzzzz....
