Personally i like themes that are associated with chinese history so i was in Esplanade to watch The Last Emperor, with Pei e and Audrey, which is a ballet performance performed by Hong Kong Ballet. The opening music piece is quite pleasing to the ear and has a nice melody. The prologue portrays the progression of Pu Yi when he was a child till an young man through lighting. The dances were graceful and full of vibrance and exuberance. This can only be done with a good choreographer who put this performace to life and to portray a story of the last emperor through ballet. I especially love the scene where Pu Yi dances with his wife and concubine. The dance was quite elegant when the three of them had great rapport together. It was just flawless! There was another short scene of Pu Yi actually supposed to be tortured by Japanese soldiers but in fact cleverly portray this through graceful ballet! Overall this performance is quite good even though was dozing at certain point due to the hypnotic music....zzzzzz....

First day of Chinese is always great! We always start at my maternal grandmother's house which my 3rd aunt's family lived there too. Its a few busstops from Sijia's house....My cousin is a savvy gamer and I always like going there to consult him on games and sometimes get free games...heee...His room has alot of gaming gadgets that can become a haven for a distributer den...haha...i'm not kidding...He has 2 Xboxes US and Asia, 1 US PS2 and 1 Gamecube plus 2 computers. He can burn DVD games and movies from the high end computer in his room using his wireless mouse and at a same time jamming at a PS2 set just beside his bed using another computer monitor as a tv. Recently, he bought a TV tuner which has a functions of like watching tv on the computer. It can also record tv programmes and when connected to cabletv, its possible to record cabletv programmes..So cool....Too bad i have neither even though i hope i can get..My dad always say we have no time to watch cabletv...blah blah....but all my relatives subscribe to it..=.=' Besides gaming, i like to eat my grandma's cooking during chinese new year festive season. She would prepare dishes like abalone in tomato ketchup, mushrooms and "lian ou" soup. I wouldn't miss it every year. Soon many people came to the house and its ang bao collecting time!! haha! After spending 3 hours, its time to go to my paternal grandmother's house in Sengkang which is opposite Compassvale Primary School. When we arrived, quite a number of relatives were around. More ang bao collecting.....My grandmother is dressed in traditional Peranakan dressing which look quite similiar to the sorong kebaya. Sort of see through dress embroided with flowers and a batik sorong decorated with flowers too. Beaded slippers and high heels are to go with the costume. This costume is so nice that i might want to wear to prom if there is one...haha... I was surprised when my second uncle's wife use to make these beaded slippers before as this kind of skill has almost died in Singapore with only very few people can do. I am an auntie in my father's family tree. I have 3 nephews,Brandon,Vernon and Matthew. This year is the first time i saw Matthew because he's only 16 months. He's so bubbly and cute. He's so cheerful and never cry infront of so many strangers. Somemore he has a cute face....hehe....Vernon oso. Matthew listens when told not to do some things and will say some simple words like hello and bye. His tiny little hands are so fragile and love him even more....His mom who's my cousin's wife, Serene is quite a modern woman. She has a modern thinking that all sexes are equal and that men should also do housework and care for the family too. She would send her son to a co-ed school. We chatted quite a bit and share ideas and opinions with each other. 1 of the topics was why i studied poly and the freedom of choice to go into either poly or jc. I came into poly because i didn't like some of the cjc people and its stressful. So i am quite lucky when my parents support my decisions. Ah...didn't know my cousin-in-law is such a nice person. After 2 more house visits, its back home to rest....such a long day but fruitful.

Passing By

Cruising in a Honda car
Gazing at passing stars
Seeing the endless tar
Will i be able to reach so far?

Lamp posts swarm really fast
White dividers turning into lines
Vision's in a blur
Mind's drifting into Never Wonderland

Two days ago when i was about to sleep, i was grinning like a school girl when given a sweet because of the 1 year once reunion dinner. So today i had reunion dinner with my small family together with my paternal grandma and 2 aunties. i always love coming here for reunion dinner because i get to eat my favourite Peranakan food which used to be prepared by my grandma but is too old to do so now. Hence the task is handed over to the indonesian maid. There was a spread laid on the table. My FAVOURITE dishes were "noh hiang" ,salted vegetable duck soup and curry. I'll dip my noh hiang in chlli sauce and munch them. Its delicious and contains only lean meat. My next favourite is curry and its potatoes. I nv like to eat curry chicken drumstick or wings, prefer them to be barbecued instead. Salted vegetable duck soup is my all time favourite because the soup is very tasty and u wun get tired of drinking. There are also some vegetable dishes to help balance out other meat dishes. After all this dinner i can still down more sparkling juice and logan dessert. Hahaha...i can feel my belly bulging....oh shit...this chinese new year is fattening!!!!

Lessons end at 3pm....i decided to go Comics World in Parklane Shopping Centre!! Along the TP stairs, saw Audrey and Pei e. Such coincidence. I told them i wanted to get comics and they graciously accompanied me along which came as a surprise because people are not always so accommodative. Well, it dun bother me if no 1 wants to go though. :) People tend to have different interests and beliefs so its not possible to force them to like them. However its always warming to the heart that someone actually takes an interest or verbally gives support. Maybe that’s why friends are so important in our lifes. As to why all the way to Parklane, its suppose to be 1 of the cheapest store to sell comics apparently recommended by Straits Times. The store is quite small but many varieties from Marvel, Vertigo and Dark Horse etc. There was an white haired man sitting comfortably on a stool when I went into to browse and its not difficult to guess that he is the boss of this shop by the way he interact with any customers that came in. The newspaper reports say the boss is very friendly and approachable which make customers feel welcomed. It is true, I asked for 1602 comics that I have eyed all along when the second issue came out. He replies promptly to have the latest issue 6! That’s fast. So I bought issue 4 to 6. I know this is a mini series, that’s why I plonked my money into them if not it will be never ending like Spiderman, Batman, Superman and X Men series. This comic attracted me when I chanced upon it in Kino, title such as 1602 is totally different from the comics Marvel use to release and the period is set in ancient times in year 1602. It’s so refreshing and all along I have an interest in history so this might be fascinating I thought. I surf the web and saw the synopses of this comics and is quite interesting, it’s about the early roots of marvel characters. I managed to see X men characters inside because I only know X men…haha…I’m a greenhorn in these kind of comics. I chatted a little more with the boss about the price and League of the Extraordinary Gentlemen. Price was 6.50 per comic….so much cheaper!! I feel totally rip-off when I bought the first issue from Absolute Comics in Bugis costing 25. Ahhh….heart abit ache ar. I’m going to buy from Comics World from now on! Next stop was to Marks and Spencer! Pei e was so lucky she saw her ex classmate there after two years..woah…must be our luck that flowed to her. Hehe… saw huge bag of chips at 6.50….so enticing. This is followed by a trip to Carrefour where I eyed for Mochi ice cream advertised by Carrefour!! 15 mini Mocha ice cream with 4 flavours at 5.70!!! Wee….so delicious!! What a nice day!

Friday 9 january 2004......I met Pei e and Audrey at Harbourfront MRT. And i found out the others didn't turned up. Oh well...this became a girls' day out at Sentosa. We were on the Sentosa bus and we three turned into siao zha bo right after i took out my Canon Ixus 2 digital camera. We were having a fun time snapping pictures and deleting the ugly ones....haha....As we reached Siloso beach, we scanned for an empty beach shelter to place our barung barung and just nice there was a huge artificial rock and 1 chair next to it. We climbed on top of the rock and start snapping pictures of the many crazy poses. Then we get as crazy as to pose together with our food like Pringles, bread and the Calamol lotion!!!! Hahahaha...so hilarious that i wouldn't forgot. :) We didn't forget to pose with the trees and did a mini video of the two running in between the trees which is often seen in Hindi movies..so fun!!!!! We were seen clicking at our shadows as the sun shines mercilessly at us. We also constructed a fish with the smooth sand, played with sand and lazed in the seawater. I made them do many times of running and jumping into the seawater so i can capture them jumping in midair. It was quite difficult to capture but i managed to get reasonable shots but still not to my satisfaction. Looks like i have to use my Leica camera to be able to capture with the shutter speed function or its my skill that needs some brushing up. I'll try and slowly learn photography. I hope another trip soon!! 1 word, FUN!!

Thursday and Friday no lessons!! Yippee!! So i spend my whole day at home on thursday surfing net. Then saw audrey was online. Pei e was with her too! We had a great time chatting. Chatting and crapping was made more interesting when we both have microphones and msn can support audio conversation. However, i can hear my echo 2 to 3 seconds after what i have said which sounded abit weird. Peals of laughter can be heard at either end of the speaker. They helped me find songs online and I was singing Madonna's Love Profusion and Sammi's songs only to hear them sniggering. =.=' But they said i sounded quite nice which i doubt its 100% true. Its not easy to sing beautifully. Then they invited me to join them to go Sentosa to sun tan. Quite a number of people were invited but however when the actual day comes.........

After back in sch after a week, do i find myself so disorientated because its not the usual routine i used to have. A week ago,I spend my time playing my PS2 and other stuff. Sitting down to watch hk drama to the wee hours and only sleep at around 2am. Waking up only to find the sun burning my butt and the routine continues. Zzzz...no more such relaxing life for now.

Last Sunday, tried to sleep at 11.30pm only managed to sleep after 12.30am...rolling in bed for an hour...then every 2h i think i was in semi conscious state. I was awake when the alarm rings at 6am. zzzzzz....routine when 8am lecture starts...sux.. I wanted to be different this year in dressing, become more different. I find women's fashion these days abit saturated. Everywhere i look, the girls seem to wear quite similarly. Its so boring. Recently i like winter style of clothing, maybe because our sunny island lack this weather and the more i like it and stubbornly still wear them.
