Actually, i was suppose to post yesterday....com not cooperating with me...haiz..can't be help.. anyway...i want to introduce two famous food outlets within Chinatown, i ate with much anticipation. ..heh...my all time favourite food is crayfish horfun in Hong Lim Complex. The food stall is call Tuck Kee Ipoh Hor Fun located at blk 531A of Hong Lim Complex, a stall number 41A. I ordered crayfish and prawns hor fun costing S$3.50, they have raise the price by 50 cents, but what the heck, people still flock there anyway. The two plates were steaming hot!! Before long they are right into my mom and my growling tummies. But before fast forwarding to the ending part, rewind......On the plate was home made thin kway teow which u can't get elsewhere plus 2 halves of crayfish which i think not many people has eaten before must less seen them, if ur lucky there might be crayfish roe but doesn't appeal to me..heh...Some vegetables and prawns decorate the disposable plate and a generous serving of sweet flavoury gravy pour on top of the ensemble. And of course u cannot forgot about the hot chili that has a great combination with the prawns and crayfish....The chili taste really brings me fond memories...i remembered i used to taste chili similiar to this in primary school, it was when i was eating fishballs at 20 cents per piece and dip them in sweet sauce or chili...followed by 20 cents syrup drink next door...oops ventured to far from my topic...but ahhhh....what heavenly food!! After this, my mom and myself went to eat the Hock Lam Street Beef Kway Teow at 22 China Street #01-10 Far East Square, this contraversial dispute between two brothers. This stall is owned by Anthony Tan, elder one, who claims that his is the original Hock Lam Street beef kway teow inherited from his father and had work for him since 12. This bowl of kway teow do not come cheap with a price of at least S$4. My mom ordered S$5 and shared with me. My mom excluded the kway teow and much more "tao gay" is added. The black soup was sweet and my mom commented that they added some herbs, which i think is too little to even notice. The highlight of the dish is the smooth and tender beef dipped in chili, excellent. This two dishes enabled me to skip dinner altogether...hehehe....anyone interested can give me a call and we go flock there.....
