On the day of the reunion dinner at Sichuan Restaurant at Swissotel on the 21/01/06, I make a historic trip there on a transport that loosely translates one saying that I heard from somewhere, "这个交通工具简直是个人包铁，不是铁包人工具！“
When I first sat on my brother's BMW bike, immediatlely in my mind this sentence seem to smack back right at me. This statement was so true!
As my brother and myself thought we were late for the reunion dinner, my brother offered to ferry us to Swissotel. All along my parents were not approving about motorcycles and I felt quite excited actually to be a pillon rider without them knowing! My first impression of the helmet was quite heavy, felt as if the head was not part of me. Maybe it's me...lolz I was told not to sway as much when turning but just try to sit straight. Then it came to gripping somewhere for support, after warching so many dramas, you know lah, it's either the waist, shoulder or grip on the bike. You can't ask me to grip the waist right, odd ok..reserve for gf...ha..then shoulder like not so steady, so end up gripping the seat..heh...As we were cruiseing to the venue, I felt the insecurities of a motorcycle over a car！ 人包铁，不是铁包人的工具！Indeed! Haha...but I'll still want to learn to ride, because my dream bike is a retro bike like Vespa or Piaggio. Then a BMW Mini!

It’s been weeks since my last entry. Partly because am both busy and lazy updating the blog but I’ll try to update more diligently, my loyal readers out there! (hmm…ever wonder if there are anyway…) :D
Some events happened these few weeks and I’ll summarise.
My grade 3 Guzheng exam on the 17 November. This year, I can’t borrow my classmate’s guzheng instead have to borrow my teacher’s guzheng and lugged it all the way from waterloo street to NAFA. As compared to last year, this year’s waiting room is quieter, it was the absence of nervous and kiasu students in their last attempt to hug the Buddha’s feet, including me. Lolz… After practicing for 2 times, my name was called. It’s my turn. I sat in the examination room with my heart skipping many beats waiting for the examiner. When she entered, she looked stern and beckoned me to start. In the midst of playing the practice tune, I stopped because my mind was blank for a while! But I quickly regain my composure and continued playing the song. Yu Zhou Chang Wan was played much better due to more practice. Fast forward 3 weeks, I passed my exam with 85/100 marks and a merit certificate!! This is one of the best gifts of the new year!
The first weekend of December was spent watching musicals. On the 3rd December, Pei ’e and myself watch a hilarious and fun drama meant for all ages to enjoy, a classic fairy tale with a twist, Oi! Sleeping Beauty! Based loosely on the tale, it’s about a princess who was cursed by a wicked witch during the kampong days and only to be awaken at a tender kiss of Prince bin Charming 100 years later, facing a perilous and unfamiliar era. There was one segment where we wave the fluorescent light sticks to wake the sleeping beauty in her slumber to singing along with the 3 fairy godmothers in drag, Fairy Cha Cha Ambo, Fairy Muneru Valliba and Fairy Tipah Tertipu. Fairy tales will always be fairy tales, ending with happily ever after for the prince and princess! Plus happy four fairy godmothers!
The next musical, starring Adrian Pang, Emma Yong (my fav actress) and others was a murder mystery story, A Twist of Fate. After watching this, the title very much lives up to the spirit of the musical.
The story starts with a stormy night, a baby was abandoned on the steps of Raffles Hotel who was later adopted and raised in England. 20 years later, this baby blossomed into a young lady, Emma West who came back to seek her real family after discovering a gold hairpin among her belongings. She came to the house of Mr Lim Chin Boon, hoping to find answers to her parents death as well as find out whether she’s the granddaughter of Mr Lim Chin Boon. Ming, second wife of Mr Lim Chin Boon and the matriarch of this peranakan family was skeptical of this young lady and believes she’s out to get the family fortune. She was in also in cahoots with a business partner of Mr Lim Chin Boon, Albert, to chase away this outsider. Ming’s only daughter, Alice, was a ditzy and gullible young lady who’s seeing the house servant, Ah See who’s skilled in killing chickens. Both feign ignorance for affections of each other in the day and result in having a midnight rendezvous in the house. Swee Neo, another house servant who served the Lim family for many years, had many dark secrets. Richard, the lawyer who took care of Mr Lim’s inheritance was a meticulous and straight man became attracted to Emma.
Through a midnight meeting, Emma bumped into Swee Neo and learnt that her parents was murdered by her grandfather! She was shocked beyond words and had mixed feelings. Her mother, Rosalind, daughter of Lim Chin Boon, was regarded as the ungrateful daughter who married a Caucasian, which led to this tragedy. She wanted to speak to her grandfather.
The next morning, Emma discovered that Mr Lim was murdered! By whom?!
In came Inspector West who was in charged of this case, to investigate and arrest the murderer. As the inspector search for clues, he discover the porch that didn’t fit well with the house and was amazed to find two bodies.
He found footprints to the store which didn’t tally with Ming’s footprints, and deduce someone else had been there before Ming. Another discovery was a blood stain on Mr Lim Chin Boon’s mouth, and the only member who was hurt was Albert! He became edgy and unknowingly confessed to the crime of murder. Another astonishing finding was that Alice couldn’t be Ming’s daughter as Mr Lim Chin Boon was out of town during that period, and Albert confessed that Alice was he’s daughter!
Another round of confessing was Swee Neo who identified Emma as her daughter, who she abandoned her on the steps of Raffles Hotel 20 years ago because she was too poor to raise her. She placed her there hoping she could be adopted by a kind soul and always hope her daughter will come back and find her.
So if Emma’s not Mr Lim Chin Boon’s granddaughter and who is? The true twist was that Ah See was the grandson of Mr Lim Chin Boon all along!! He now becomes the heir of the inheritance and can marry Alice, as he didn’t have to care about having different family backgrounds! It’s a truly big mess of fate, a truly Twist of Fate.
In the month of December. I was so attracted by the ebay products that I couldn’t stop buying and end up with 4 items. At first, I just wanted to get myself a harry potter scarf, colours that are similar to the ones featured in the movie. After that followed by buying a Hogwarts tapestry, pillow and a badge. Luckily for me, last moth’s shopping spree had been now turn to selling spree. Lolz… have been trying to sell off as many things as possible before I leave for Australia to study.
Talking about the harry potter scarf, I had bought 6 rolls of wool to knit myself my very own harry potter scarf. When I have completed the scarf, I’ll share pictures with everyone.
As I prepare to pack my stuff to bring over to Australia, my dad had been giving me meaningful and useful items for me. As far as I can remember, my dad usually don’t give Christmas presents but he told me to get myself a new wallet as a present! Then followed by giving me an alarm clock with a picture of 2 parents and 2 kids that look like “stickman” to me. I guess my dad wanted the clock to remind me about my family back home. Now, my dad often watches some Chinese, Korean or Japanese dramas together with me which he usually seldom watches. Maybe my dad wanted to spend more time with me as what SJ analyzed. Come to think of it, dads have their own way of showing care, concern and love. My mum on the other hand seem to act different ever since I know that I’m going overseas. I’ve noticed mum had been quite irritable nowadays and always regard the stuff I bought are wrong, telling me to wait for my aunt and then decide. Sometimes, I feel quite fed-up and irritated. She would always give a lecture cum advice about living in Australia, interacting with other people of other cultures etc. At times, she became naggy but somehow I know she’s trying to show her concern. Looks like men and women react and behave differently at different times in different environments. Humans are profound creatures that baffle one another.
