Now, time to fill up the blanks of my life for a month or so. I sat for my guzheng exam on the 7 December 2004 for my Level 1 guzheng examination. I was using my classmate’s guzheng for the exam and while playing I found the guzheng sound was strange but continued playing. At my second song, I forgotten a part of the song and just stopped but still managed to continue playing. But after the whole exam end, I felt quite relax even though I thought I didn’t perform at my best when I have been playing that song for 4 to 5 months perfecting it. Then two weeks later, I got my certificate and was quite proud of my achievement even though I didn’t have any music background to start with. Guzheng is something I only grow to love but not hate. J Right now, learning a Chinese new year song plus some other tunes to entertain my listeners at home.

With music, how can food be missed? There was a day, Amy, Jia Hui, Hewei and myself went to LingZhi Vegetarian Restaurant at China Square for a vegetarian steamboat. Besides buffet style steamboat, we can order miscellanous items that come packaged with the buffet. We ordered a few times “Deep Fried Stuffed”. This item consist of “you tiao” stuffed with sweet sauce and vege in between. The taste was quite heavenly as it’s crispy and sweet. Other dishes were “Mushroom Bisque with Vermicelli and Black Fungus”, Wok Fried Monkey Head Mushroom Served with Vege” and “Sweet and Sour Chicken”. Don’t be taken in by the names, all of the dishes are vegetarian. Overall the dinner was quite satisfactory because I’ve never eaten such a vegetarian spread before.

Next was a crab dinner in Ang Mo Kio. The place is called MellBan Restaurant if I’m not wrong. We had fried rice, vegetables, pork belly meat I think and of course crabs to go. First I tried the gravy and instantly love it. It’s slightly spicy and sweet which appeals me. I can practically drink the gravy. The crab served was quite big and was sufficient for 3 of us to eat. I will always attack the pincer first as I find it easier to eat. For as for now, we wouldn’t be eating crabs for the time being with the tsunami that hit Asia recently.

Talking about inpatient pharmacy like it was like yesterday, I grew to miss that place now. I miss the people working there, the familiar small pantry place, the Christmas tree that accompanied us during the festive season, the teasing between Aik Peng and Peter, Kiat Wee’s guidance, accompany the pre-registration pharmacists for late lunch, going retail and koup some stuff for inpatient pharmacy. I was so happy working there that when I went to outpatient pharmacy this week, I immediately missed the SP48. Then I immediately thought of rewarding them for taking such good care of me. I treated the whole SP48 to famous Indian Rojak at Waterloo Street called Sajis Indian Food. Its so ideal as its halal and delicious which can be enjoyed by all. I did all the ordering and transporting the rojak in one hour which included me eating lunch as well. It was worth the effort.

Now I am in outpatient pharmacy working non-stop and facing occupational hazards like cuts. Currently working at level 1 pharmacy, the items are systematically placed so it’s easy to pack. But when I have to go to the basement pharmacy during my last four weeks, it will be bad. I will probably do checking and when there’s any mistake, I would be blamed. I also heard of my friends disliking some people there. They also got sick one after the other when working there. It must be the bad air there. I will have to be on my guard from now.

Today, SJ, JH and myself with dad went to the Australian University Open Day at Orchard Hotel to find out more about overseas study. We first filled up our grades on supplied forms to enable the representatives from the universities to give us an opinion about our chances of entering the university. We approached UNSW and U of Sydney about bachelor of science degrees. The UNSW representative wasn’t sure about the questions posed by us and we just took some brochures and approached the U of Sydney counter. We chatted with a nice and approachable lady named Jasmine Chambers who provided clear answers to our questions and cleared doubts. I was at first interested in Bachelor of Science and Medical Science, and asked her about the difference between them. She explaianed that Medical Science course is quite rigid because it’s not possible to study any other electives because of time constraint. I prefer a flexibility of bachelor in science course that allows room to let students study electives like art subjects. And I can choose to major in some subjects that are similar to Medical Science even though it wouldn’t be as much choice as Medical Science. During the approving of application forms for advance standing by Ms Chambers, she mispronounced SJ’s name. Then we mentioned to her about her name in Chinese was called Mo Li Hua. Ms Chambers was so excited to hear about her name in Chinese and asked SJ to help her write it in Chinese. It was a joy chatting with Jasmine and found the information quite useful. Hope we get to meet her there when there’s a chance.
