4 1/2 days in inpatient pharmacy 48 in SGH was amicable, not overly friendly. Maybe its because we are not to familiar with each other yet and no common topics to chat or just too busy to chat. Hopefully my 8 weeks there would be better in the coming weeks. Every day's work is routine. Mornings from 9-11am is either return medicines from the wards back to the medicine boxes or top up medicine boxes. In patient deals with both in patients medication and discharged patients medication. In patient medication is ordered after looking at the patient's IMR(Inpatient Medication Record) using a inpatient order form and pasting a sticker with the patient's particulars and stating th required medication. This form is typed by the typist of the day to print out labels. Medication are picked and packed into ziplocks and checked by another person before its placed on a trolley to be top up in the wards. At the wards, the name of patient, ic number,the medication item and strength plus quantity are checked before placing the medicine in the medication trolley according to the ward,room and bed number.
As for the discharged patients, a prescription is sent by the nurse to the pharmacy and punched in a machine for the time and date the precription is recieved. Next, the typist type the appropriate labels to be packed. If the dosage or the strength is too high or any doubts to the presciption, a call to the doctor is required to confirmed. When any doubts cleared, medicine are packed into ziplocks or bottles for loose tablets. When the patient's relatives come and collect medicine. A check is done with the packed medicine before its dispensed by the pharmacists.

Yesterday, i went to my aunt/grandma's house to consult my aunt about my project. She guided me on how to present data in logical manner using excel spreadsheet and and the doing the surveys must have a purpose for each question is asked. I realized I had little or no experience in doing surveys and how to present my data in order to meet my aims. My mom got angry a few days ago and we quarreled when i wasn't clear as to what I should do and acheive in the project. She seems to be more worried than me when it dawned me today that its because she's worried for me and can't do anything to help me in my current position. My aunt was able to guide me to focus on the aims and my mom is in better mood these days. However, as i was chatting with my cousin in his room. My grandma and aunt started quarreling about my grandma's littering lately. And my grandma was yelling at her to phone the police and catch her, she would continue to throw litter out of window to oppose her. My aunt kept quiet and ignored her by talking to my younger cousin. From this situation, I felt my grandma wanted attention as she was oftened at home most of the time with nothing much to do except to read, watch tv, do some marketing and have meals. My two cousins seldom chat with my grandma as they do not know how to speak cantonese and converse with her. She can only have a conversation with my aunt in the house. I felt really disheartened to hear the quarrel which i understand 3/4 of it while my cousins wasn't affected by it.
